The best transfer to Hakuba depends on your arrival airport, flight time, luggage and accommodation. From Matsumoto Airport, a reserved shuttle serves several Hakuba stops. From Haneda or Narita, you can request a shared or private airport transfer, or take trains and a bus via Nagano.

For winter 2026–27, ALPICO’s route page says its direct Narita–Hakuba bus will not operate. The page also retains older schedules, so choose another route for that season.

Matsumoto Airport shuttle ¥3,300 one way per adult to Hakuba Station, Goryu Escal Plaza or Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort Your flight matches the shuttle and a listed stop suits your accommodation
Chuo Taxi airport transfer Request a quote for your airport, party and destination You prefer an airport-to-accommodation journey without train and bus changes

ALPICO direct Narita–Hakuba bus No service in winter 2026–27 You are checking whether an older direct-bus timetable applies

Compare the full cost to your accommodation. A shuttle or bus fare to a station does not include the final ride to your lodging. An airport vehicle may take you to the door, but its quote can include separate luggage or greeting charges.

Choose the route around your airport and arrival time

Start with your flight’s scheduled arrival time and terminal, then work forward to your accommodation:

  1. Allow time to clear the airport and collect your bags.
  2. Find a departure that fits your arrival, including time to reach its meeting point or station.
  3. Check the Hakuba stop against your accommodation address.
  4. Add any local taxi or accommodation pickup needed for the last leg.

For an evening arrival, check the last useful connection to Hakuba and arrange late check-in with your accommodation. For the return trip, plan backwards from the time you need to be at the airport rather than assuming the inbound timetable works in reverse.

Hakuba airport transfer from Matsumoto Airport

Nan-an Taxi runs a reservation-only shuttle between Matsumoto Airport and stops including Hakuba Goryu Escal Plaza, Hakuba Station, Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort and Tsugaike Kogen. You must be using a flight at Matsumoto Airport; the shuttle cannot be booked solely for travel between intermediate ground stops.

The operator’s published one-way fares per passenger are:

Stop Adult or elementary-school child Preschool child
Hakuba Goryu Escal Plaza ¥3,300 Free
Hakuba Station ¥3,300 Free
Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort ¥3,300 Free
Tsugaike Kogen ¥3,900 Free

Pay the driver in cash when boarding. Confirm the fare for your travel date when reserving. See the Nan-an Taxi shuttle timetable, fares and reservation page.

Booking and journey time

Reservations open two months ahead. Book by noon on the previous day for travel the following day; same-day reservations are not accepted. A departure with no reservations does not run.

The published timetable includes a 09:55 departure from Matsumoto Airport arriving at Hakuba Station at 12:15—a journey of 2 hours 20 minutes. Check the timetable against your flight and travel date before booking.

Online changes and cancellations are accepted until noon the day before travel; after that, contact the operator by phone. Ask about cancellation charges and what to do if your flight is delayed.

Hakuba airport transfer from Haneda or Narita

Chuo Taxi’s Airport Direct service connects Haneda and Narita airports with destinations in Nagano and Gunma. Its shared service can be booked by one passenger and travels between the airport and the passenger’s home or accommodation. A full-vehicle plan is also available.

Apply at least seven days before travel and provide your flight number and scheduled arrival or departure time. The operator excludes flights arriving at or departing from the airport between midnight and 05:00.

Request a quote for your exact Hakuba address, party size and luggage. Chuo Taxi lists separate fare tables for its summer service dates of April 1–December 19, 2026, and winter service dates of December 20, 2026–March 31, 2027. See Chuo Taxi’s English service information and booking form.

Luggage and meeting the driver

For the shared plan, each passenger may bring one suitcase and two pieces of hand luggage free. The stated hand-luggage limit is 55 × 40 × 25 cm; additional items cost ¥1,000 each.

Ski and snowboard bags have a separate rule. The shared plan accepts one small bag per group, up to approximately 170 × 30 × 15 cm, for an additional ¥1,000. Groups with multiple bags or a medium or larger bag need the full-vehicle plan. Give the operator all bag dimensions when requesting a quote.

Chuo Taxi requires its paid meet-and-greet service for customers who do not speak Japanese. Customers using it must have WhatsApp ready. Ask for the meeting instructions and total price, including the greeting and luggage charges, before paying.

Travel to Hakuba via Nagano

The public-transport route has three main stages: travel from the airport into Tokyo, take the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Nagano, then take an ALPICO bus to a Hakuba stop.

Hakuba Valley’s access guide lists a fastest Tokyo-to-Hakuba journey of 2 hours 50 minutes by Shinkansen and express bus. This starts in Tokyo, not at Haneda or Narita, so add airport procedures, the airport-to-Tokyo journey and the connections needed for your chosen departures.

From the airport to Tokyo

From Nagano to Hakuba

ALPICO lists a winter timetable for December 12, 2026–March 26, 2027, with both reservation-only and non-reserved services. Check the stops for your particular bus: most non-reserved winter buses run directly between Nagano Station and Happo Bus Terminal without stopping at other stops.

For non-reserved buses, buy a ticket on the day and join the queue; a ticket does not guarantee a place on a particular departure. For reservation-only buses, book online. ALPICO says that if seats remain on the day, passengers may pay the driver when boarding.

The published winter adult one-way fare from Nagano Station is ¥3,500 to stops including Hakuba Station and Happo Bus Terminal, or ¥3,800 to Tsugaike Kogen and Hakuba Norikura. Check the ALPICO winter service page and its reservation-only winter bus page for your departure and stop.

For the green-season timetable shown through November 30, 2026, ALPICO lists ¥2,900 one way from Nagano Station to Hakuba Station or Happo Bus Terminal. Tickets are bought on the day and boarding is first come, first served. See the ALPICO green-season timetable and fares.

Is there a direct Narita-to-Hakuba bus?

ALPICO says there will be no Narita–Hakuba bus in winter 2026–27. Its route page also retains older schedules and fares, along with notices about earlier seasons. Use the 2026–27 notice rather than the historical timetable when planning.

For that season, compare an airport transfer with the train-and-bus route via Nagano. Read ALPICO’s Narita–Hakuba service notice.
